Chessbook is a local-first iOS app. Your games, notes, and marked positions live entirely on your device. Most users will never touch our servers.

What we collect

• Nothing by default. Your PGNs, comments, repertoire lines, and marked positions stay on your iPhone in app storage. They are not uploaded, mirrored, or logged anywhere.
• App Store purchase state. If you buy Chessbook Pro, Apple tells your device "this Apple ID is entitled." We never see your card details, name, or email.

What we never do

• No third-party analytics SDKs (no Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase, PostHog).
• No advertising SDKs.
• No crash-reporting SDKs. We rely on Apple's built-in MetricKit only.
• No selling, no sharing, no "anonymized aggregate" reselling.
• No cloud anything.

Apple services

• App Store — processes Chessbook Pro subscriptions. We see purchase entitlement state; never your card.

How long we keep things

On-device: forever, until you delete the app or tap "Delete everything" in Settings. On our servers: nothing — we don't have user records.

Children

Chessbook is suitable for ages 4+. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone, adult or child, because we don't collect data at all by default.
